40 Rolex’s Drive Designer Auction

Millions of dollars of Rolex Watches, Louis Vuitton and Hermes handbags, high end shoes, jewellery and opulent items are set to sell in this weekends Lloyds Auction sale.

“We are seeing more high end watch brands such as Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Breitling and others coming forth to auction as they are achieving these record prices across the board and those with the disposable income are happy to pay that bit more to own it and have it in their hand now rather than later,” said Mr. Lee Hames, Australian Chief Operations Officer for Lloyds Auctioneers and Valuers.

Knight Frank’s 2022 Luxury Investment Index Report stated that fine wine and watches led with the highest increase in investment, both rising an impressive 16% through the year with handbags increasing by 7% in asset performance.

According to the Knight Frank report, the total sales of watches at auction worldwide in 2021 was an increase of 54% on the previous year, with Rolex Daytona’s followed by Explorers and Submariners the models set to continually increase in value the most overall.

Watches aren’t the only luxury item to skyrocket in value Hermes Birkin handbags have proven their increase in value with a Black Togo Birkin 35 achieving well over its estimated price when it sold for over $200,000 at Bonhams’ July Designer Handbags and Fashion sale.

Forbes also lists some of the advantages of investing in collectibles in an article published in March this year which includes the benefits of diversification of an individual’s investment portfolio, the portability of a physical asset and of course the enjoyment of a collectable one is passionate about.
