Australian Olympic Legend’s Estate for Auction

Don Talbot, an iconic Australian Olympic swimming coach, trained national teams for Australia, the United States and Canada, and now his most treasured belongings are being auctioned through Lloyds completely unreserved.

Hundreds of items once belonging to Don are going through an online auction in which he had spent his lifetime collecting now to be shared with the world, as his legacy lives on.

“This is a very special collection, we feel extremely privileged to be able to share this collection with the community and honour the amazing achievements that Don Talbot worked for,” said Lee Hames, Chief Operating Officer for Lloyds Auctions.

“We expect some of the items in this collection to fetch serious interest from swimming enthusiasts and collectors from right around the country,” continued Mr. Hames.

The auction headlines with his Australian Swimming National Head Coach Jacket alongside commonwealth games team jackets, and also including a ‘This is Your Life’ Photograph Album documenting his momentous achievements throughout his lifetime.

Also featuring in the estate auction is his Order of Australia Certificate which is widely regarded as the highest recognition for outstanding achievement and service.

A limited-edition coin collection also features in the auction which was made exclusively for Don and is the heritage of America, coming with a certificate of authenticity.

Other items in the collection include many awards, stopwatches, a framed set of limited-editionvcollectors pins, Talbot’s book ‘Nothing but the best’ and many other unique items.

“This collection showcases all the amazing items gathered by Don Talbot over the years, and we lookcforward to the new custodians to enjoy everything this collection has to offer,” continued Mr. Hames.

The online auction will close this Friday 29th October at 7:00pm.

Scott Webber is one of the founding partners at Lloyds and has worked for the company from its inception in 2004. In that time Scott has been a Licensed Auctioneer and Qualified ASA Valuer. Prior to Lloyds, Scott was a Farm Manager at Cubbie Station in Queensland, he has an earthmoving and agricultural background.

Scott is heavily involved in daily valuations. He acts for a wide range of clients and vendors including Insurance companies, Financiers, Insolvency Practitioners, Government branches, Joint Ventures and Alliances, large companies, and private individuals. Scott personally co-signs and oversees every valuation report completed by Lloyds. On average the Lloyds valuations department conducts over 500 appraisals per financial year.

Scott has managed many auctions and private sales, previously completing an approximate average of 400-800 traditional auction lots per week. Given that the Lloyds system is now online, traditional auctions are very minimal and are completed in a simulcast method, to comply with contracts we have with major government departments. Although Scott’s focus is currently Valuations, he still oversees and runs auctions weekly on a wide variety of assets from motor vehicles to very specialised process lines.

Scott offers a wealth of experience as an Auctioneer and Valuer in all aspects of Valuations and Asset Disposals.

Having headed disposal programs for Major Infrastructure Alliances, Joint Venture partnerships and Government projects throughout Australia, Scott has a wide range of experience in the Civil Construction, Earthmoving, Manufacturing and Agricultural sectors offering a “turn key” service from start to finish.
