Hitting the open road: buying a caravan

There’s many a song written about hitting the open road. Just think of ‘Take It Easy’ (The Eagles). And, there are plenty of songs that speak of wanderlust like ‘Where the Street Have No Name’ (U2). However, if you are in need of an escape than some good tunes will only get you halfway. The other part of the equation equals the wheels to get you where you want to go. So, why not consider buying a caravan to make your travel dreams a reality? Here are some reasons why this is such a good option:

Your home is where you lay your hat

If you are a bit of a gypsy at heart, an adventure lover, or, if you just fancy getting back to basics and getting away from it all, then you will want to consider buying a caravan (or a campervan/motorhome).  There’s nothing quite like shooting the breeze on the road less travelled. Plus, there’s the ease in knowing that no matter where you are, your home is literally wherever you lay your hat.

Creature comforts

There’s no need to book and pay for a hotel or motel. Plus, you needn’t skip on any of the creature comforts. If you’ve ever seen the inside of a caravan, campervan or motorhome you would know that they are easily fit with all the mod cons. With such features as wood grain trim, plush upholstery and all the kitchen appliances you might need –  neatly tucked away in the one vehicle – you can enjoy a holiday without ever having to pack or unpack a single piece of luggage.

Freedom and flexibility

The lifestyle that a caravan, campervan or motorhome brings is one of unparalleled freedom. And, whether you want to pack up your kids for a great summertime, or, it’s just you and your four-legged pal, you can experience all that our great sunburnt land has to offer – completely at your leisure. You can find a caravan park almost anywhere – in a cosmopolitan city or a small town with rural charm. That’s the great thing about the life of a caravan enthusiast – you aren’t limited as to where you can travel and when.

See and do it all

You can ‘pull up stumps’ at one of Australia’s well known beaches and enjoy the life of a beachcomber for an extended spell. Once you’ve gotten tired of sandcastles, zinc cream and gnarly waves you can move on to the hinterland – to lush tropical rainforests, bushwalks and waterfalls. If you’re feeling more intrepid you can drive your caravan all the way to the outback, the land of vast terrain and sweeping sunsets.

Be spontaneous

Don’t underestimate the power of spontaneity in having a good time. Road trips can be the very best way to create great, lasting memories. Maybe the kids have left home and you want to reconnect with your significant other? Or, maybe you want you want to do that awesome surfing trip with a bunch of friends?  Perhaps you just aren’t easy to tie down and have an enduring spirit of nomadism? Whatever the need or desire, invest in a caravan (or a similar vehicle) and you’ll be singing ‘Bojangles’ (Sammy Davis Jnr) while you while away the hours without a care in the world.
