July Classic Car Auction Recap
Last weekend, classic car enthusiasts from across the country gathered for an exhilarating live auction that showcased some of the most iconic vehicles ever built. The atmosphere was electric, with bidders vying for the chance to own a piece of automotive history. Here’s a recap of the highlights, including some extraordinary cars that sold under the hammer.
The star of the auction was undoubtedly the 1979 White Road Boss Prime Mover, famously featured in “Mad Max Fury Road.” A piece of Australian Movie History! It was taken to Namibia with all the other vehicles for filming and returned to Australia. It was featured as the Car Hauler in most of the action sequences, it was referred to as “The Black White”. The fierce bidding war ended with the hammer dropping at an impressive $26,000.
Next up was the 1972 Chrysler VH Charger, a car that represents Australian muscle. With its powerful V8 engine and sleek design, the Charger is a beloved classic. The crowd erupted as the bidding escalated, and the car ultimately sold for $48,250.
Modern classics were also in the spotlight, with the 2014 HSV VF Maloo R8 Supercharged being a highlight. This high-performance ute, known for its supercharged engine and aggressive styling, captured the hearts of many. The hammer fell at $60,000.
Japanese sports cars have a strong following, and the 2002 Mazda RX7 Type-R Bathurst Edition was a hot topic of conversation. Renowned for its rotary engine and exceptional handling, this rare model attracted fierce competition among bidders. The final bid reached $41,000.
In addition to the stunning vehicles, the auction also featured a set of Victorian Heritage Plates “VIC 726”. Heritage plates have long been considered a prestigious investment, and this set was no exception. The bidding was intense, with collectors eager to add these plates to their collection. The final bid came in at $290,000.
