New Way to Donate Money to Charity without Spending a Cent

One of the nation’s most well-known charities Starlight Children’s Foundation and Australia’s greatest auction house, Lloyds Auctions have teamed up to create a world leading new innovative way of donating unwanted goods as an alternative to cash.

As individuals and businesses feel the cash pinch it’s never been more challenging to ask donors to give money. That’s why Lloyds and Starlight have come together with a unique way to donate by asking for items that might be collecting dust, auctioning it, and converting it to cash without impacting people’s pockets directly. This allows donors to still be able to give to charity powered by Lloyds Auctions who convert the items to cash for donors.

“Our auction platform is a great new way to donate to charity, where people can donate their unwanted goods rather than much needed cash making the power of donation less painful to people’s pockets,” said Mr. Lee Hames, Chief Operations Officer for Lloyds Auctions.

“As an Australian company being around for more than 20 years, Lloyds recognises the important role we play in the community and we’re proud to use our auction platform to help charity,” said Mr. Hames.

Lloyds are offering people and businesses the opportunity to auction valuable items with zero fees, by volunteering their auction platform ensuring that maximum proceeds will go directly to charity.

Kickstarting the new donation initiative alongside Lloyds is the Starlight Childrens Foundation.

Every minute of every day, a child is admitted to hospital, which is why Lloyds Auctions and Starlight Children’s Foundation have partnered to bring Starlight Auctions for Happiness, to help raise funds and brighten the lives of sick kids.

“As a parent myself, I can attest that the sound of my children laughing is the best sound in the world! I am so proud that the Lloyds team and our customers can help Starlight ensure that sick kids all across Australia will be laughing even when they’re in hospital,” continued Mr. Lee Hames, Chief Operations Officer for Lloyds Auctions.

“That’s why we have made it super easy for people to auction their item, just get in touch, drop off your items and its hammer time!” said Mr. Hames.

“Being seriously ill shouldn’t mean missing out on the fun of childhood, especially when evidence shows happiness helps kids bounce back after going through tough times,” said Ms. Louise Baxter, Starlight CEO.

Every minute of every day, a child is admitted to hospital. At Starlight, they know that happiness matters to sick kids going through incredibly tough times. Happiness helps sick kids cope with the pain of treatment, reduces fear and anxiety, and builds resilience that lasts a lifetime.

For more than 35 years Starlight has worked with health professionals to create positive distraction that brightens the lives of seriously ill children and their families. Starlight’s programs use play, creativity, and social connection to support seriously ill children and young people, and to create positive impact for the rest of their lives.
